Senate Transportation Committee to Meet March 13
To Consider Nomination of Secretary of Transportation

The Senate Transportation Committee will meet on Tuesday March 13th at 9:30 a.m. in Hearing Room #1 in the North Office Building in Harrisburg to consider the nomination of Allen D. Biehler as the Secretary of Transportation, according to Senator Roger Madigan (R-Bradford).

Madigan, who chairs the committee, said that he looks forward to working with Secretary Biehler on important transportation issues, including public transit funding, road repair and construction, and highway safety.

But he also wants to learn more about what measures PennDOT are implementing in the wake of the Valentines Day Snowstorm, which crippled much of Pennsylvania and stranded motorists.

Recently, Madigan held a joint hearing with the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Management Committee to hear testimony from Biehler and others who were responsible for storm management.

"Secretary Biehler made it clear that PennDOT will do a better job with coordination, communications and execution in the case of another storm or emergency," Madigan said.  "As legislators, we have a responsibility to those we represent to make sure that happens."
